Just like humans, your canine friend can get sick too. They are just as susceptible to cold weather as the rest of us. Here are a couple of tips to keep your puppy happy and safe.
1. Keep your dog on his leash. If you let your puppy run around in the snow, ice, or snow storm he can easily lose his scent trail and become lost.
2. Wipe his paws, legs and stomach. After your buddy has been out in the snow or ice make sure to wipe him down. Otherwise, he will lick himself clean, which could expose him to salt, anti-freeze and de-icing chemicals.
3. Keep your dogs coat in tip-top shape. Make sure not to trim his coat to short because this is the dogs natural insulator. Also, increasing his protein intake will help your friend keep his coat in good condition.
4. Keep Poinsettia, Holly and Christmas Trees out of reach. Both Poinsettias and Holly can be poisonous if ingested, so make sure to keep them out of reach. Also make sure to never leave your dog unattended with your Christmas Tree because it poses choking hazards and digestive problems to your animal.
5. No edible ornaments on the Christmas Tree. Putting edible ornaments on your tree is asking for the tree to be knocked down by your pet. This will not only cause a mess but could cause injury to your buddy.
