Kristi Smith, CVT, CCAS, CDT, CDTA, PDTI, CSDT, CYNX-L and Dog Trainer U.S. have developed a methodology and state of the art tutoring program for training students in animal husbandry, care to include nutrition, grooming, & conditioning whether they are neurodiverse, gifted, or special needs. Kristi Smith, CVT, CCAS, CDT, CDTA, PDTI& CSDT, our accomplished Mentor who developed our tutoring programs has over 42 years of teaching Neurodiverse, gifted, and special needs individuals utilizing unique methodologies to meet their individual needs, allowing them to learn and thrive within our tutoring programs as well as find their niche when it comes to working with animals. Our Tutoring programs are designed to teach animal related techniques and skills to encourage our students to have an understanding of animals as sentient beings, how to care for and enhance quality of life and most importantly skills that could/will be usable in a wide range of animal related professions.

Our tutoring programs focused on the husbandry, nutrition, care, enrichment, conditioning, training and grooming of animals are designed to provide comprehensive education and support for our students. Our experienced tutors are passionate about sharing their knowledge and expertise in all aspects of animal care, nutrition, training, basic grooming techniques, conditioning, and advanced nutrition and health considerations.

Through personalized one-on-one sessions, our tutors work closely with students to develop practical skills and knowledge that will help them provide the best possible care for their animal(s). Whether you are a new student looking to learn the basics or a student seeking to deepen your understanding of husbandry, nutrition, care, conditioning or grooming our tutoring programs offer valuable insights and resources to help you become a confident and responsible animal caregiver.

We have been working with families on the Arizona Enrichment Scholarship Association for multiple years. We have knowledge and experience with assisting families with the pre-approval and/or re-imbursement process.

We have numerous years of experience tutoring families with children of various special learning needs including but not limited to: Epilepsy, autism, anxiety, diabetes, mobility issues and many other disabilities along with those that are neurodivergent, neurodiverse, and neurotypical.

Tutoring is also available for student desiring to learn husbandry care, grooming, nutrition, enrichment, and training of animals using family pets or our in-house facility dogs during the tutoring program. Our programs which promote Social emotional learning are customized for each individual student.

Welcome to Learning Life Skills with Animals!

This course is specifically designed for individuals with special leaning needs or styles. The goal of this training is to teach individuals life skills that encompass techniques that can be utilized for basic and advanced animal husbandry, enrichment, nutrition, training techniques for general pet dogs / animals, Emotional Support, Therapy and Service animals.

Here you’ll explore and learn in a way that is individualized and tailored to your learning style & needs. In the final part of the course, we will focus on ensuring that you understand how and when to utilize these skills. You will practice your new skills in real-world situations while dealing with the most common issues.

We do work with dogs/pets already owned as well as have several breeders that love to donate puppies to families who are participating in our tutoring programs. Please note: these breeders only donate to families that are committed to one of our Tutoring programs.

All assessments will be customized for the individual. Study time: Time for each portion of the training will be based on the individual’s learning needs.
